Flame working demonstration by Tom Doner
Tom Doner became interested in working with glass 1993 after seeing a glass worker demonstrating at a flea market in New York. Captivated by the flame and the endless variety of items that could be made with a torch, glass rods and tubes, and a little imagination, Tom decided to pursue it as a full time endeavor and is a self taught craftsman who learned from books and videos.
Working from his studio in Northern Butler County, Tom produces a myriad of sculptures and blown glass items using a propane and oxygen burner which are displayed in the adjoining gift shop.
He also offers private and semi private lessons in his studio for those who are interested in learning this unique art form. Tom will be demonstrating at the AABC member meeting on April 24th, and will also participate in the Futuristic Art Exhibit on July 13th which will also be accompanied by a live demonstration.
